TELEHEALTH OVERVIEW

Due to the current pandemic, to maximize everyone’s safety New Life Counseling will be shifting to providing telehealth sessions only beginning Monday, March 23.  We are contacting you because you have an upcoming appointment, and want to guide you through the process of connecting with us in continuing your treatment. Research shows that people who use telehealth mental health services have similar or sometimes better outcomes than those who receive traditional face-to-face services and often appreciate the convenience. There is typically an adjustment, and we want to guide you through that adjustment with specific guidance and direction.

         You can expect an invitation in your email from a website called Clocktree. Clocktree is a HIPAA-approved video communication platform that you can link to, and through that, we can provide secure encrypted video communication between you and your therapist. Attached to this email is a set of very specific instructions regarding responding to that invitation, setting up a client profile, and then connecting with your therapist at the time of your appointment. Please read through the directions and set up your client profile.  If you’re curious you can surf through their website, www.clocktree.com, check their FAQ, and watch the instructional videos to help you get more comfortable.  You can access videoconferencing through your smartphone, your tablet, through your laptop, or a desktop with a webcam. 

         If you are not able to access videoconferencing through any of those devices, please call us and we can arrange other alternatives.  

         For session payments,  if you have previously established a credit or debit card on file with us, we will just charge you regular co-pay to that card as previously agreed. If you do not have a credit or debit card on file with us, we will contact you prior to your appointment to arrange payment through a credit card or debit card. 

         We are required by law to provide you with informed consent, which we will do through the review and signature of an informed consent form. The form is attached to this email. Please review it and return it with your signature, as we HAVE to have this before your appointment. This can be accomplished in one of several ways. First, you can print it, sign it, scan it, and email it back. Second, you can print it, sign it, and take a picture of the signed third page, with your name and signature clearly showing and either email us or send it via text message to 330.597.0066. Third, you can read the form, and text or email your agreement, acceptance, and validation of your identity in a separate message: please see the example below. Please note if you use this method, you must include the set of random digits in the box at the bottom of the last page of the consent form to validate that you have accessed the document.

Example response:

“I have read and understood the New Life Counseling telehealth consent form, and I accept it, agree to accept the risks it outlines, and certify I am the client or the client’s parent/guardian.  This message constitutes my electronic signature for that document.” [Random number sequence here]
